FROM BORN TO RUN
“...there was some kind of connection between the capacity to love and the capacity to love ‘running’. The engineering was certainly the same: both depended on loosening your grip on your own desires, putting aside what you wanted and appreciating what you've got, being patient and forgiving and... undemanding...maybe we shouldn't be surprised that getting better at one could make you better at the other.”
Date of Run: March 21 2020
Distance 51 miles.
Start point: Akaroa
Finish point: Riccarton, Christ Church
A solo run through a forest.
A city marathon with 1000s of strangers.
Running brings us back to ourselves as humans.
There is a unity in running.
Barriers are broken down and bonds are forged, and connections as strong as any are made.
And in these times we need more unity.
A small number of the ever growing The Bali Hope family are coming together for the Unity Ultra.
In March 2020. In New Zealand.
New Zealand is a long way from anywhere but where better to go to than a place where the opposite of unity left the darkest or marks.
